Guest Post -2 : Spicy Sundal made with ChickPeas
March 25, 2010 by Sandhya Hariharan

Couple of weeks back ,we had a potluck tea party home . Each of us had cooked a snack ideal for the evening..But tea party went on and the snacks made up for the heavy dinner. Menu was Spicy Maggie , Paneer Tikka , Spicy sundal & Fruit Kheer . Offocurse we had it with tea.. Coz it was Tea Party!!
My dear friend Anu had made this Sundal soo beautifully with such simple ingredients that I couldnt stop myself from asking her to write for me.... Luckily I did manage to get some nice clicks...
Over to Anu for the rest of the recipe .

INGREDIENTS:
Chana/ChickPeas - 1 tin boiled chana or 400 gm soaked for 6 hours and boiled with a little bit o f salt till doneShallots - 4 or 5
Curry leaf - 1 spring
Freshly grated coconut - 4 tsp
Dried red chillies - 2(increase or decrease according to personal taste)
Mustard seeds - 3/4th tsp
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Oil - 2 or 3 tsp
Salt - as required
DIRECTIONS:
Heat oil in a wok. Add mustard seeds and urad dal. When mustard seeds start to splutter and the urad dal starts turning golden add the dried red chillies. Then add the curry leaves and shallots. Keep stirring till the shallots become translucent. Now add salt and tip in the boiled chana. Mix thouroughly. Cover and cook on a low flame for 2 or 3 minutes to let the flavours get infused. Switch off the gas. Add the grated coconut and mix well. Garnish with some chopped coriander leaves and a dash of lemon juice.
Serve this with tea.
